The Eco-Schools committee was very excited to welcome Anna from NI Water last week. We learned that scientists now think there are more pieces of plastic in our oceans and seas than there are stars in the galaxy! We talked about the problem of flushing plastic down our toilets (wipes!) about micro plastics in our food chain and how using single-use plastic water bottles is both totally unnecessary and has a massive negative impact on the marine environment!
We are very excited that NI Water has given our school a reusable water bottle for every child and this will help us to be a re-fill school! Remember to take your bottle with you when you're out and about. Look out for the re-fill sticker displayed on the window of shops and businesses where you can re-fill your reusable bottle for free! No need to buy water in the shops!
