Number Bond
Throughout the week P.4 were visited by a very special visitor... Number Bond - a French spy! This spy helped P.4 to think about number bonds to 10 (e.g. 7 + _ = 10 or 2 + _ = 10 etc.).
Hidden in our play area were 10 numbered keys to unlock 10 numbered padlocks. The class had to find all the keys and unlock every padlock before Sam Stealer beat them to it! We had to work quickly - and we did - solving every sum correctly.
To help us think about how to solve number bonds to ten we can use our fingers:
Take the sum 3 + _ = 10
Hold up both hands with all 10 fingers and thumbs up. The sum is three add something = 10, so put down 3 fingers. How many are left? Seven!
So 3 + 7 = 10
You can see this explained further in the first 2.12 mins of this video:

CHALLENGE!
Think you've mastered number bonds to 10? Why not try this game? It takes a little getting used to, but is fantastic fun once you get the hang of it! I'll introduce it in class. (Open the link, select the target number as 10 and click play).
